Spring semester has started and it’s time again for us to immerse ourselves into the sea of brainstorming and writing.  I hope you all enjoy the journey we have had so far.  In this semester, We’ll be doing ‘reponse writing’ instead of ‘learning journal’.  As the name suggests, ‘response writing’ is a kind of activity that requires  you to give your response to the article you read.  The purpose of doing this is to stimulate your thinking and to reflect on your lives and the world around  you.  More importantly, response writing is a wonderful way of sharing among us.   Hopefully, we’ll have a lot of fun from this!

Now, let’s begin by reading the very first article on Valentine’s Day.

According to the reading, some people changed their ways of celebrating Valentine’s Day this year because of the recession effect. They started to rethink about what Valentine’s meant.  On the other hand, some people insisted getting chocolates and flowers as the gifts and belived this was not a holiday to skimp on.  For you, what is the true meaning of Valentine’s Day?  Did the global recession change your celebration in any way?  Write a response for as much as you want to say and turn it in by 2/23 (專一甲) and 2/26 (應二甲 ).
